Bringing together students and the tech industry for hours of creativity and problem-solving – that’s what DeltaHacks is all about. The fourth annual hackathon held Saturday, Jan. 27 through Sunday, Jan. 28 was jam-packed with over 36 hours of coding, mingling, mentorship, and challenging top students.
This year’s event attracted over 300 students wanting to do social good and top-tier organizations wanting to enable the next-generation of leaders.
What is DeltaHacks?
DeltaHacks is McMaster’s annual student hackathon for change. It encourages students in all fields of study to come together to build real-world applications that create positive change. The difference between DeltaHacks and other hackathons is that they embrace elements of design thinking to make “hacks” that solve real-world problems.
Indellient: Mentors & Presenters
We were delighted to see a full room for our presentation “Productizing Machine Learning” given by Indellient employees and McMaster alumni Nadya and Kulwinder. We discussed real-world applications to coding that go beyond the classroom into a professional environment – something many undergraduate students are wondering.
“The workshop Kulwinder and Nadya ran gave great insights on what Indellient is doing. It’s exciting to see that Indellient is always adopting new technologies to better its products,” says Zichen Jiang, our former intern and McMaster student who is a regular participant at DeltaHacks.
Not only did we deliver valuable information in a casual environment, we also mentored teams throughout the weekend offering our expertise whenever we got the chance (and also learning a lot from these brilliant hackers along the way!)
We even had a ton of buzz from our sponsor prize – a GoPro camera awarded to one lucky team who solved a challenging problem.
We’re already counting down the days until next year!
