Tell us more about what you do at Indellient
Right now, I am doing design work for a long-term project that I’ve had an integral part on in developing. The project started off small and has grown to have several developers and designers, which I assist by answering questions and writing technical and functional documentation. I do training walkthroughs for new employees and write tickets that help guide my co-workers through the codebase and learn the system to add new functionality.
What is your favourite part about working at Indellient:
I believe Indellient genuinely cares about the growth of their employees. I think it can be hard for companies to find balance between satisfying their clients (to keep business flowing) and keeping their employees happy and Indellient is trying to work out that balance as best they can. I like that my manager regularly checks in with how I’m doing and what my goals are. I feel fairly free to try out different roles when new projects come along if I want to and doing so has given me a better sense of my surroundings in my career.
What advice would you give to someone applying at Indellient?
The job-worker relationship is a two-way street. Consider what you would like to be doing career-wise and what is important to you. Figure out what is a necessity for you to succeed, what you’d like but could compromise on, and what you have no strong opinions on. Write down some questions for things that matter to you to ask during an interview. If company and employee fit well together, it’s a net positive for everyone involved.
Tell us an interesting fact about yourself!
I am passionate about the arts in many different forms. I play and write music, I have performed improv acting in front of audiences, I’m really into art film and foreign film, I write poems with a poetry group. I am easily enthused by others’ creativity and it inspires me to engage in my own creative pursuits.
What is the last show you binge-watched?
I’m not really one to binge-watch shows, but there is a show I’ve been really into lately which is called “Joe Pera Talks With You” on Adult Swim. It’s incredibly endearing, heartwarming, and an overall calm show, but never boring and quite funny in a subtle way. I like it because it feels genuine and simultaneously makes me smile while putting my mind at ease. It’s a nice change of pace from all the intensity of TV and the world. There’s nothing quite like it.
